2010 Route 66 Road Trip
by Gordon Thorne PSEB
Hi Bruce and other NW club members--
Gordon Thorne, here, from Puget Sound Early Birds club. I thought it
may be of interest to know that recently, 5 couples from PSEB (two who
are also members of Olympic Classic T-Bird club), recently returned
from a 6,500 mile journey from Seattle to Chicago, and from there, all
the way on Route 66 to the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, before
returning back up to the Puget Sound area.
My wife, Judy, a professional travel writer, kept a blog with text and
many photos outlining the fun, weird and historic aspects of the
trip, and on the off chance that you may like to take a look at it,
here's the address: http://onthemotherroad.blogspot.com. DO NOT try to
just Google it, or use any search engine to find it -- it's a private
blog, meaning search engines can't find it. To access it, simply
manually type in the above address in your address bar. The blog will
come up, with the last, latest post first, followed in order by
earlier posts, all the way back to the first post.
Lin Somsak, editor of the Early Bird magazine, has expressed strong
interest for using portions of the blog for her front cover article in
the January/February issue -- but you can get a jump on that and see
all of it instead of the condensed version that Lin will run by
accessing Judy's blog.
Considering that the total combined mileage of the four old T-Birds
was an astounding 26,000 miles, greater than the circumference of the
Earth, the old cars held up pretty darn good! Anyway, hope you enjoy
reading it.
Regards,
Gordon Thorne
